A special day from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OK --- so how many of you are saving the "good" stuff for a special day? Don't use the good china - that's for a special day? Or the linens, the new shirt, or whatever item you save for a special day?

I hear so many stories of people going into their parent's home to clean it out and finding so many items that are brand new and were being saved for a special day. A friend gave some nice embroidered kitchen towels to some friends, and they all said they were too nice to be used daily. So ...

Sun up to sun down from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Thanks, Carolyn, for the offer to bind quilts!!! I will start working on the binding as soon as those quilt backs are DONE! Only three more to make!

I never get too much done on a Monday, as I seem to chat more than I sew! But I got the next quilt loaded on the long arm, and the next piece of machine embroidery prepped and ready to go. Plus, I cleared up a few things, and those worktables are almost clear! So it was a good day!

Worktables are almost clear!

Oh my -- I have serious allergy issues these ...

Using up the fabric stash for community project quilts from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Wow --- I'm running out of time, and I've just started to write this morning.

What a fun time we had at the Virtual Retreat last night. When I left at 9 PM, quite a few were still on the call. I was tired and had to get to bed. Then I slept in a wee bit this morning and still had to prepare the last presentation for this morning, so I was a wee bit behind. However, ALL is good.

I started two new sew-alongs yesterday, so that's pretty exciting. I'll share those with you later ...

When things go wrong, what do you do? from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Well, there are days when things work like a charm, and then there are days when - well, yesterday seemed to be one of those days.

I had big plans to get so much done, but why does everything take so much time? I really can't complain because it was a good day, just a few frustrations thrown in to keep me humble.

And I'm a stress eater. When things do NOT go well, I seek food. Thankfully, we have almost no junk food in the house, or life would be different! I was tempted to stop at Tim ...

I got so MUCH DONE!!!! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

WOW --- we had such a riot at the Virtual Retreat. As usual, they kept me up later than I normally do, and after sewing all day, I was exhausted. I had to FORCE myself to stay awake to finish up the last of my project. But so much fun and so much more interesting to sew with others than to sew alone. Thanks to everyone who stopped in to sew or just to say hi!!!

Over and over, I heard the same thing, "I got SO MUCH done!" And that was the same for me - just wait for it.

But ...

I have sewing tools and I know how to use them from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh my gosh -- you guys are the best!!! There are times when I think I live in a vacuum waiting to be rescued by you all!! I will NOT be buying a new rain jacket - I just need to find some waterproofing stuff. So that's on the list of things to track down. See how those errands accumulate!! I can barely keep above the water on the errands, but I did manage to get a few off the list yesterday. You know how it is - one errand leads to another and so on.

We have some house repairs that ...

Sunshine! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

The sun was out in all its glory yesterday, and I took full advantage of it! I moved a sewing machine upstairs to Studio U. And after I finished my project for work (on the laptop), I moved over to the sewing machine. I can't share what I'm sewing with you - well, not yet, but what fun to sew in the sun!

It was so warm in that room, I thought it was summer! I finished the one quilt block that I was working on and even cut out and sewed part of the next one! How about ...

Putter, putter, putter from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I finished my last two presentations for the week yesterday. It's so much fun to chat with the ladies from across the country. I get to hear what's happening, and it sounds like Winnipeg is going to shut down starting Monday - similar rules to what we have in the Ontario hot spots.

I just won't go there as I'm so frustrated with the entire picture. We went out to dinner last night. We were so far apart from other people, plexiglass between the booths, people wearing masks and handwashing - that it's crazy to think that ...

A killer is on the loose from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OH, MY GOD!!!!!  I decided to buckle down and get some work done. Depending on what I'm doing, I'll open up an audiobook. I'll listen for a couple of hours, and then I get bored. I never listen to audiobooks in bed, and I never listen when I'm walking the dogs.

However, I had to throw all those rules out the window yesterday. This book is a PAGE TURNER like I've never read before. It's called The Other Mrs. by Mary Kubica. WHOA -- she writes a very twisted physiological thriller. I keep changing the ...

Scraps and more scraps from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

We had an excellent Zoom sewing session yesterday. We got to see two people that we hadn't seen in quite a while, so that was good to catch up with them. I was ripping something out, and now it's ripped out completely. That was a bit of a nasty job, but it's done.

I did spend some time puttering to try and get a handle on the stuff in Studio B. I got everything from the retreat put away, except those baskets of work that need to be done. They are still sitting in the middle of ...

Hands off from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I decided that I would walk to the grocery store that has a big pharmacy so I could stock up on some glucosamine. I should have started taking it long ago, but I didn't. So let's start now and move on. This was my first time in a grocery store since the pandemic was announced. There are normally two entrances to the store and one is closed off. For the open one, there's an entrance door with someone monitoring the people going in and there's an exit.

I wonder how closely they are monitoring stuff? Lots ...

A road trip from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

A road trip! Imagine that! I didn't really need to make the road trip, but what the heck - it was pouring rain and why not!

Actually, I wanted to get that sewing machine to Karen and I had an order to pick up at Thimbles and Things. Both are in the same town and I had been holding off until our retreat at the end of this month. That retreat got canceled and well - I just wanted to cross those two tasks off my list.

Karen is like me - when you get an idea - you want to make it ...

The scraps are going, the scraps are going................... from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Yesterday was a crazy day. I'm not sure what gets into me sometimes, but I get on a roll and well - watch out!!!!! Let's just say the light at the end of the tunnel is going to be blinding soon.

I had two one-hour webinars that I wanted to listen to. I didn't have to participate in any way, although I did ask questions in one. But that's two hours of valuable time so how can I get something done at the same time. I did a wee bit of sewing and I'm happy to ...

Let's go for a walk from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

So it was pouring rain yesterday morning. Even the girls did NOT want to go outside. That's very unusual, but it was wet! However once the rain went away and the sun came out, people came out of their houses in droves! The girls and I went for a long walk and at some point, there were so many people to "dodge" on the streets, that everyone was crossing what is normally a fairly busy street at random intervals to keep our social distancing.

It was great to see so many people out - I just hope that people will ...

It's DONE from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I don't know why I'm surprised. Everything seems to take way longer than you plan for it to take. That job that you thought would be finished in one hour  - well three hours later, you're still working on it!

That seems to be me these days. Probably because a lot of the jobs I'm tackling are ones that I've put off because I didn't want to do them and my goal is to let NOTHING get in my way of getting those ugly jobs accomplished. PROCRASTINATION will not be allowed in this house (at ...

A rolling stone gathers no moss....................... from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I think that's a very appropriate expression for me. I'm all about go-go-go! I know that I have an obsessive personality and I take every advantage of when I'm on a roll! The Sit n Sew days get me so fired up and now the Community Projects days get me even more fired up - well - there's NO stopping me now. I WILL get this mess cleaned up. I'm so excited about the prospect and even in my mind, I keep rearranging things to make it better. But ONLY once some of the other stuff has ...

Giving to the pets from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

At one point, not long ago, I said that I wanted to get all those scraps (destined for pet mats) cleaned up by the end of the year. I'm not sure if that's exactly what I said, but I would like to get rid of them. End of the year? I'm trying.

To backtrack - several years ago, I decided it was a good idea to make pet mats using up the scraps from cutting and trims squares - not HUGE hunks of fabric as some are want to believe! Simple scraps. I put a plea out to the ...

Sustainable sewing from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh boy - I think I've gone crazy. Not that I wasn't crazy before, but this has really tipped the scales.

I should mention that my eyelid has turned many shades of purple. Since it's mostly my eyelid, you can't really see the damage! It would appear that I really fell on my left side as my chest felt a bit sore yesterday and still does this morning. But I'm recovering!

I have an event in Cochrane (November 13) and one in Timmins (November 14). The topics are what's new from Husqvarna Viking, and will ...

Charity sewing from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm not sure why I feel it's my mission to use up every little scrap of fabric, but I do know that I'm tired of moving this stuff around and I'm tired of seeing it and I'm tired of it niggling away in the back of my mind.

It's time to get this stuff used up and then onto the fun stuff. Don't worry - I'm still doing some fun stuff in between, but I really, really want to get this scrappy stuff used up. And it's going to happen. Remember how ...
